Wednesday the 1st of February, the employees of the Confucian Institute were invited to Støvring High school to attend the yearly concert. This year titled “Magical Mystery Tour”. Støvring High school was the first high school in Denmark to cooperate with the Confucian Institute in the creation of a “Confucian Classroom”.

Inauguration of Confucius Classroom at Strøving Gymnasium High School

On 23rd, Aug, 2010, the first Confucius Classroom in Denmark ,which is cooperated by the Confucius Institute for Innovation and Learning at AAU and Stroving High School, held an unveiling opening ceremony . There are many prominent guests attending the opening ceremony, including Tina Nedergaard, the Minister of the Ministry of Education in Denmark; Liu Chenggang, the first secretary of Division of Education in Chinese Embassy Copenhagen; Inger Askehave, Vice President of Aalborg University; Anny Winther, Mayor of Rebild Municipality; a delegation from the Chinese partner with the Confucius Institute for Innovation and learning at AAU. Liu Chuansheng, General Secretary of Beijing Normal University, Hao Fanghua, vice principle of Beijing Normal University, Xiao Kai, Vice Director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Department, Zhang Jian, Dean of the Chinese Literature Department, Chen Li, Director of the Academic Planning . In addition, Du Xiangyun (Danish Director ), Du ping ( Chinese Director) of the Confucius Institute for Innovation and learning at AAU, the both sides directors from Copenhagen Business Confucius Institute, Chinese teachers from the Confucius Classroom of the Copenhagen Business Confucius Institute, headquarters from the Middle and Primary school and the students of the stroving High School attended this event.

With the beautiful song “You and Me” singing, the ceremony started. Minister of the Ministry of Education in Denmark cut the ribbon for the Confucius Classroom with Liu Chuansheng, General Secretary of Beijing Normal University; Du Xiangyun , Du Ping , Directors of the Confucius Institute for Innovation and Learning at AAU bestowed 2000 Chinese books to the student representatives. Tina Nedergaard, Minister of the Ministry of Education in Denmark, Liu Chenggang, the first secretary of Division of Education in Chinese Embessy Copenhagen; Inger Askehave, Vice President of Aalborg University; Anny Winther, Mayor of Rebild Municipality made a congratulation address respectively.

Tina Nedergaard, Minister of the Ministry of Education in Denmark addressed a sincere congratulation to the establishment of the Confucius Classroom, and also a warm welcome to the delegation from Beijing Normal University. She spoke highly of the cooperation in educational fields between Denmark and China and stated further cooperation and development will be continued in the future.

Liu Chuansheng, General Secretary of Beijing Normal University said that the establishment of the Confucius Classroom will serve as a platform for the primary and secondary students, through which
can know more Chinese culture and Chinese language , and addressed a good wish for the Confucius Institute to get more achievements and continued innovation in the Sina-Danish cultural exchange and language learning.

Liu Chenggang, the first secretary of Division of Education in Chinese Embassy Copenhagen stated that it is 60 years since China and Denmark established a diplomatic relation, in the past 60 years, Sina-Danish achieved a successful cooperation and exchange in many aspects of the society, like economic, trade and firmly believed the cooperation will be continued and deepened in the future. In addition, he conveyed the warmest wish to the Confucius Institute and Confucius Classroom for accomplishing more success.

Various performances were played during the inauguration. The band, composed of the students from the Stroving High School, played their two original songs ” Girls on film” and ” Silver Soul” , two of which are lively and cadent, conveying the charm of the western Rock Music. The drama, ”Who was Confucius? ” was played by the two students from the Confucius Classroom, which clearly messagedthe value and educational idea of Confucius. Wang,Zihui, overseas Chinese, played a traditional Chinese musical instrument--- flute, which showed the traditional Chinese music and won the great applause from the audience. Event 1 for Chinese Cultural Week for Spring Festival: Visiting to Støvring High School

The Chinese teachers and students from Confucius Institute for innovation & learning at Aalborg University paid a visited to Støvring High School on February 9, 2010, with the aim of teaching Chinese language and culture, which symbolized the Chinese Cultural Week for Spring Festival had began.

The headmaster of Støvring High School had shown a warm welcome and made a
speech. “With the increasing influence of China on the world, the Chinese language teaching and culture had been integrated with the regular educational system of Støvring High School in the past two years, which has been warmly welcomed by the students. With the Chinese New Year approaching, I wish you all a happy new year. ”

Subsequently, the teaching staff from the Confucius Institute at Aalborg University taught the correct pronunciation for some specific Chinese characters. Louise, a student in this high school, wrote neatly on the blackboard, “认识你我很高兴(Nice to meet you)”, and accurately read, having won acclaim for the teacher and students. In order to create a better climate for intrigue the students’ interest in learning, the staff taught the students Chinese songs, such as, Two Tigers, Without the Communist Party There Would be no new China, etc.. Jacob, one of the students of this high school said emotionally, “I am very eager to learn Chinese, because Chinese culture is very attractive. The Chinese teaching had been contained in the curriculum system that I can more clearly understand the cultural differences between East and West, which is what my interest lies in.”

Through vividly demonstration and explanation for Chinese language, the students in Støvring high school students have a more profound understanding of learning Chinese language and culture, and also inspire them to learn Chinese language and culture with enthusiasm.
